Katsina to Host Mass Wedding for 1,000 Couples in 2026

Katsina State is preparing to conduct its inaugural mass wedding for 1,000 couples across its 34 local government areas, scheduled for April 25, 2026. The initiative was disclosed by Aminu Usman Abu Ammar, the Director General of the Katsina State Hisbah Board, during a training session focused on livelihood support and marital counseling.

This program is organized in partnership with the Al Usra Marital Support Foundation and the Katsina State Ministry of Women Affairs. The initiative aims to address rising social challenges and support marriages among vulnerable groups affected by economic hardship, including widows, orphans, and disadvantaged individuals.

The scheme is designed to empower brides and grooms with support packages to ease the financial demands of starting family life. Aisha Aminu Malumfashi, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, noted that a total of 2,000 individuals underwent medical screening to verify their health status compatibility, as confirmed by the ministry's spokesperson, Aminatu Sada Mashi.
