Egbetokun Resigns as IGP, Disu Takes Over Leadership

Kayode Egbetokun is scheduled to formally hand over the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to Tunji Disu during a ceremony at 2 PM at the IGP Conference Hall in Abuja. Egbetokun resigned from his position on Tuesday, citing family reasons, and his resignation was immediately accepted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Following this, Tunji Disu, who previously served as the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department at Alagbon, Lagos, has been appointed as the Acting Inspector General of Police. The new Acting IGP is expected to develop a management team consisting of eight senior Deputy Inspectors General of Police, and the process will follow the traditional compulsory retirement line.

Disu arrived for the decoration ceremony at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday at 2:50 PM, accompanied by family members, where he was decorated with his new rank.
