INEC Confirms APC, LP for Kebbi Assembly By-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that only the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP) are eligible to participate in the Kebbi Assembly by-election set for June 20, 2026. This announcement was made during a stakeholders' meeting in Birnin Kebbi, led by Abubakar Sarkin Pawa Dambo, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kebbi State.

Both parties met the deadline for candidate submission, which was outlined as May 22 to May 26, 2026, in accordance with Section 84 of the Electoral Act 2026. The APC and LP are required to submit the names of their polling agents by June 10, 2026, with campaigns commencing on June 11 and concluding on June 18, 2026.

The by-election was necessitated by the vacancy of the Zuru seat following the demise of the late member on April 6, 2026. The final results of the election will be made public by the returning officer.
