APC's Rabiu Aiki Wins Zuru Bye-Election in Kebbi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) retained the Zuru State Constituency seat in the Kebbi State House of Assembly as Rabiu Garba Aiki emerged victorious in the bye-election held on Saturday. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiki the winner after he garnered 4,871 votes, defeating Aliyu Galadima Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP), who received only 168 votes.

Professor Muhammad Bashar Danladi from the Federal University of Birnin Kebbi announced the results, noting that there were 109,385 registered voters in the constituency, with 5,156 accredited to participate in the election. A total of 5,055 valid votes were recorded, while 95 ballots were declared invalid.

The bye-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of the former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Moham Usman Zuru. Despite a peaceful conduct of the election, voter turnout was reported to be low across polling units in the constituency.
