Bandit Attack in Kebbi Leaves Four Dead, Soldier Missing

A bandit attack on the Tudun Bicci community in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left a soldier missing. Hussaini Aliyu Bena, the Chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, clarifying that the casualties included two forest guards and two civilians, dismissing earlier reports of a soldier's death.

The attack occurred when armed bandits invaded local farmlands, leading to a gun battle with security personnel and local forest guards. Bena reported that several bandits were neutralized during the exchange, with others fleeing with injuries.

The Kebbi State Government is working with security agencies to address the ongoing insecurity attributed to bandit camps in neighboring Zamfara and Niger states. The situation has been exacerbated by recent kidnappings, including that of Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, which has raised concerns over security in the region.

Governor Nasir Idris has convened meetings to enhance security operations in response to these threats.
