Kebbi State Signs Trade Deal for Niger-Benin Transit Corridor

Kebbi State has signed a deal with the Nigeria Customs Service to establish a transit corridor along the Niger-Benin route. Governor Nasiru Idris expressed readiness to collaborate with the federal government to ensure the smooth operation of the corridor.

The initiative, approved by President Bola Tinubu, aims to facilitate the movement of goods between Nigeria, Niger, and Benin. The partnership includes plans to improve infrastructure and streamline customs processes to boost trade, create jobs, and contribute to economic growth.

The agreement also involves the payment of token fees for infrastructure maintenance along the designated transit areas, particularly in Bagudu Local Government Area. This collaboration is expected to address border security challenges, promote legitimate trade, and strengthen economic ties within the region.
