Nigeria's U18 Boys Qualify for 2026 FIBA AfroBasket

Ahmadu Musa Kida, the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), congratulated Nigeria's U18 Boys national team following their impressive qualification for the 2026 FIBA U18 AfroBasket Championship. The team emerged as champions in the FIBA Africa Zone 3 qualifiers held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, completing the tournament with a perfect record of four wins.

Kida commended the players, coaching staff, and crew for their discipline and outstanding performance throughout the tournament, describing the qualification as a significant milestone. He attributed the success to the collective commitment of the NBBF board members and emphasized the federation's dedication to grassroots basketball development.

Kida assured that preparations for the continental championship in Côte d'Ivoire, scheduled for August 3-16, 2026, would be intensified, ensuring both the male and female U18 teams are adequately equipped. The Nigerian U18 Boys defeated Benin 96-35 and Burkina Faso 98-54, finishing unbeaten and clinching the Zone 3 title.
