N100m Ransom Demanded for Abducted Ondo Council Secretary

Joseph Aladesuyi, the Secretary of Okeju Local Council Development Area in Akoko North West Local Government Area, Ondo State, was abducted on Monday while working on a farm in Kajola. The kidnappers have contacted his family, demanding a ransom of N100 million for his release.

The abduction occurred alongside two other individuals, and Aladesuyi sustained gunshot injuries during the attack. Family members expressed their anxiety over the situation, revealing that the kidnappers had reached out within 24 hours of the incident, insisting on the substantial ransom.

Efforts by security agencies, led by Ondo State Police Command spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi, are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers. In response to the rising insecurity, residents of Ilu Abo staged a protest, blocking the Akure-Owo expressway, demanding government action to address the wave of kidnappings in the area.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, visited the protest site, urging calm while assuring that security measures would be intensified.
