Gunmen Abduct Council Secretary and Two Others in Ondo

On March 9, 2026, gunmen abducted Joseph Aladesuyi, the council secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area, and two others during an attack at a poultry farm along Kajola Road in Ilu Abo, Akoko North West Local Government Area, Ondo State. Eyewitnesses reported that approximately ten armed assailants ambushed the victims, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.

The attack left the community in shock, with parents withdrawing children from nearby schools due to fears of further violence. Jimoh Abayomi, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that a tactical team was mobilized for a rescue operation.

Adebowale Lawal, the Commissioner of Police for the state, directed the deployment of intelligence resources to ensure the victims' safe recovery and the arrest of the perpetrators. The incident has raised alarms about the deteriorating security situation in the area.
