N200m Ransom Demanded for Abducted Kebbi Judge

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court has been abducted, with kidnappers demanding a ransom of N200 million for his release. This information was disclosed by Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

The police commissioner stated that the abductors contacted the judge’s family and also reached out to a registrar of the High Court in Abuja to negotiate the ransom. In response, security agencies have deployed tactical and intelligence operatives to search forests and suspected escape routes used by the kidnappers.

Additionally, security measures have been enhanced through the establishment of checkpoints and increased surveillance in strategic locations to prevent the movement of the abductors. Hadejia expressed confidence in the ongoing operation's success and urged residents to remain vigilant, providing credible information to assist in the rescue.

He also advised public officials and prominent individuals to avoid unnecessary night travel due to security challenges.
