Justice Bunza Released After N50 Million Ransom Paid

Justice Bunza was abducted in the early hours of Sunday, July 26, 2023, when heavily armed bandits invaded his residence in Bunza Local Government Area, Kebbi State. His release occurred on August 3, 2023, after spending eight days in captivity.

The Kebbi State Police Command, along with his family and the Kebbi State Ministry of Justice, confirmed his safe return. Police spokesperson Bashir Usman stated that the judge had reunited with his family and that security agencies are intensifying efforts to apprehend the kidnappers.

A family member disclosed that N50 million was paid to the abductors, who initially demanded N200 million. The family expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State government, security agencies, and the public for their support during the ordeal.

The kidnappers, believed to be five in number, directed the family to a remote location for the ransom delivery, where they made unusual requests for drinks before accepting the payment.
