Kidney Disease: Tinubu Slashes Dialysis Cost To ₦12,000

President Bola Tinubu has approved a subsidy that significantly reduces the cost of kidney dialysis at federal hospitals to ₦12,000 per session. The development was announced by the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to the President, Sunday Dare, in a post on Twitter.

The subsidy has already been implemented in major federal medical centers and teaching hospitals across the country, including facilities in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Owerri, Maiduguri, Abeokuta, Benin, and Calabar. Dare stated that the initiative will be expanded nationwide by the end of the year.

This move follows President Tinubu's approval last year of free caesarean sections for pregnant women in federal hospitals, with the aim of reducing maternal mortality and improving access to quality maternal healthcare.
