Kila Critiques INEC's Delisting of ADC Leadership

Professor Kila expressed his dissatisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding its decision to delist the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is led by David Mark. Kila made these remarks during a briefing on Wednesday, emphasizing the need for the electoral body to consider the implications of its actions.

He warned against making decisions based solely on technical correctness without reflecting the realities of the political landscape. Kila's comments followed INEC's announcement that it would no longer recognize the faction led by David Mark and Rafiu Bala, based on a court of appeal judgment from March 12, which stated that INEC did not monitor the congress convention of the party pending the resolution of a case in the Federal High Court.

Kila stressed the importance of broader consultations with political parties and suggested that INEC should act as a mediator rather than merely making announcements, comparing its approach to global standards.
