Peter Obi Promises Hardline Stance on Terrorism

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, has condemned the killing of soldiers by Boko Haram and ISWAP militants in Borno State. In an interview with Arise TV, Obi stated he would adopt a hardline approach against terrorism, insisting on declaring war on terrorists rather than negotiating with them.

His comments come amid growing concerns over Nigeria's worsening security situation. Obi criticized senior military officials for their inaction and called for immediate decisive action.

He referenced the successful security strategies implemented during former President Olusegun Obasanjo's tenure and emphasized the need for a dual approach to tackle insecurity, combining immediate enforcement measures with long-term institutional reforms. He highlighted the importance of political collaboration, mentioning northern political figures such as former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Obi pledged a visible and decisive leadership style to restore public confidence and ensure safety across the country.
