Police Deploy Tactical Team in Kwara State After Violent Attack, Manhunt Underway

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of a tactical and intelligence team to Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara State after a violent attack claimed the lives of 75 individuals on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The Nigeria Police Force strongly condemned the attack and assured the public that the perpetrators would be apprehended.

The police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the deployment aims to restore calm, strengthen security presence, and prevent further acts of violence. The police have launched an intensive manhunt for the individuals connected to the crime, with investigations already underway.

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq confirmed the brutal attack during a visit to the affected communities. The attack comes amidst rising insecurity in parts of North Central Nigeria, with armed groups launching deadly assaults on rural communities.
