Kogi State Council Approves Key Agricultural Initiatives

The Kogi State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, convened in Lokoja on Monday to approve several significant projects and policy initiatives. The Council commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his developmental efforts.

Key decisions included the procurement of fertilizers and agricultural chemicals to support farmers, aimed at enhancing food production during both wet and dry seasons. Mr. Timothy Ojoma, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, reported progress on the African Development Bank-supported Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), with land preparation and site allocation underway.

The Council also addressed road projects in Ibaji, Bassa, and Kabba-Bunu Local Government Areas to improve access for agricultural produce. Additionally, the Council approved renovations for the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation and the introduction of quarterly media briefings by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Mr. Taiye Abanika, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, announced the approval for Phase Two of student hostel construction at the Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital in Okene.
