Kogi Lawmakers Secure Primaries Amid Irregularity Claims

In Kogi State, lawmakers including Abdullahi Ali Halim (Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala), Suleiman Danladi Aguy (Lokoja), Sanni Egidi Abdulkareem (Ajaokuta), and Leke Abejide (Yagba) emerged victorious in the recent primaries. However, the elections were marred by allegations of irregularities, particularly concerning Sanni Salau Ogemb, who won amid controversy.

Ogemb, who recently defected from the African Democratic Congress to the People's Democratic Party, faced accusations of disqualification by the party's screening committee. Despite these claims, he urged party members to remain calm and united.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, praised party members for their peaceful conduct during the primaries, which he described as transparent and democratic. Concerns were raised by aspirants like Muham Yahaya Dongo and Joseph Babagbemi regarding the lack of transparency and the unavailability of electoral materials during the exercise.
