Kogi Security Agencies and INEC Prepare for 2027 Elections

Security agencies in Kogi State, led by Commissioner of Police CP Nasir Kankarfi, are collaborating with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections in 2027. During a briefing at the Police Headquarters in Lokoja, Kankarfi stated that an inter-agency security meeting was convened to review security arrangements and develop strategies to safeguard the electoral process.

He urged political parties and stakeholders to avoid violence and hate speech. INEC Chairman in Kogi State, Shehu Wahab, confirmed that the meeting aimed to assess INEC's preparedness and strengthen coordination with security agencies.

Wahab assured that INEC would provide necessary electoral materials and personnel while collaborating with security agencies to prevent violence. He also mentioned the role of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in transporting electoral materials across the state, emphasizing the commitment to a credible election and the need for stakeholder cooperation.
