Kogi State Targets 1.9 Million Children in Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign

The Kogi State government aims to vaccinate over 1.9 million children aged 9 months to 14 years in a Measles-Rubella vaccination drive. Dr.

Muazu Musa Omeiza, the Executive Director of Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, announced the initiative to protect children from these infectious diseases. The campaign, supported by UNICEF, includes the deployment of a novel Oral Polio Vaccine to strengthen immunity against polio.

The vaccination drive also introduces the HPV vaccine for girls aged 9 to 14 to prevent cervical cancer. This effort comes at a crucial time as global disease cases rise due to immunity gaps.

The comprehensive campaign involves community engagement and mobilization for widespread vaccination coverage.
