Kwankwaso Addresses Rumors of Leaving NDC Amidst Tensions

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a prominent member of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), publicly addressed rumors regarding his potential exit from the party. His remarks came following media reports suggesting he might leave the NDC.

During a meeting in Abuja, Kwankwaso downplayed these rumors, emphasizing ongoing party engagements and strategic planning for upcoming elections. The Kwankwasiyya Movement, which he leads, also dismissed the reports, stating that neither the movement nor Kwankwaso expressed any intent to leave the NDC.

Habibu Sale, a spokesman for the movement, described the rumors as mere speculation. The NDC's recent primary elections were conducted in compliance with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines, with adjustments made to the candidate list in Kano State to adhere to a 60-40 power-sharing formula.

Hussaini Isah Mairiga, the Kano State NDC chairman, confirmed these adjustments, which were necessary to rectify breaches of the original agreement.
