Kwankwaso Mourns Passing of Emir of Gumel, 85

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, mourned the death of the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad-Sani II, who died at the age of 85 on Thursday afternoon in Egypt. Kwankwaso described the late emir as a distinguished and far-sighted leader, extending his condolences to the emir's family, the Gumel Emirate, and the people and government of Jigawa State.

The late emir served for 46 years, guiding the Gumel Emirate to remarkable heights. Born into the ruling family, he received his education at various institutions, including Ohio University in the United States.

His career included roles in the Nigeria Immigration Service and public administration, and he was appointed Commissioner for Information, Internal Affairs and Culture in the old Kano State from 1978 to 1980. He ascended the throne on December 16, 1980, following his father's death, and was remembered for his dedicated service.
