Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Muhammad-Sani, dies at 85

His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad-Sani, the Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday afternoon at a hospital in Egypt, concluding a 46-year reign. His death occurred shortly after the passing of the Emir of Zurmi, Bello Suleiman, who died on Monday at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.

Alhaji Muhammad-Sani's early education began at Gumel Primary School (1948–1953), followed by Hadejia Middle School (1953–1956), and he completed his secondary education at Rumfa College in 1961. Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, who is also the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, expressed condolences through Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House in Gombe.

The governor commended the late emir for his wisdom, humility, and commitment to the welfare and development of his people, emphasizing the stability and unity of the Gumel Emirate during his reign.
