Kwankwaso Denies Defection Plans from ADC Amid Crisis

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, has publicly addressed rumors regarding his potential defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to either the People Redemption Party (PRP) or the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). He clarified that no final decision has been made about his political future.

Kwankwaso acknowledged ongoing discussions with leaders of the PRP, attributing the leadership crisis within the ADC as a significant factor in these consultations. He noted that the ADC is currently facing challenges due to a recent federal high court ruling that invalidated the party's recent convention, which has complicated its position.

Furthermore, Kwankwaso emphasized that he has neither declared interest in nor endorsed any presidential aspirants for the 2027 elections. He also explained his absence from a recent ADC stakeholders meeting due to personal commitments, assuring that any final political decisions will be communicated officially at the appropriate time.
