Kwankwaso Aims for Presidency After Obi in 2027 Elections

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, is reportedly making strategic moves to position himself as a presidential candidate following Peter Obi's potential candidacy. An ex-lawmaker from Kwara State confirmed that Kwankwaso is working to rally support from northern leaders in preparation for the 2027 elections.

The ex-lawmaker, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, acknowledged the growing influence of Obi and Kwankwaso's camp. Sources indicate that Kwankwaso is spearheading efforts to unite northern stakeholders and is expected to be a key figure in mobilizing against Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambitions.

Additionally, there are claims that Kwankwaso has a long-term political strategy in place, with plans for an alliance that could see him contesting in the 2031 elections, should Obi emerge as the candidate of his party. Meanwhile, Ladipo Johnson, the national publicity secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), stated that Kwankwaso declined to comment on the matter.
