Kwankwaso's Son Sues Kano Government Over Vehicle Seizure

Rabiu Kwankwaso's son, along with others, has initiated legal action against the Kano State government regarding the seizure of official vehicles. The lawsuit was filed on January 14, 2026, in the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) against the Attorney General of Kano State and two other lawyers.

The claimants allege that on February 26, agents of the Public Complaint Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) forcibly entered their residences, disturbing families and seizing vehicles. They demand the immediate return of these vehicles, arguing that the government's actions were vindictive and violated their rights.

The claimants assert that former officials, including ex-Commissioner for Transport Ibrahim Ali Namadi, were allowed to retain their vehicles, highlighting a disparity in treatment. The PCACC Chairman, Said Yahaya, confirmed the recovery exercise but noted that the ex-commissioners ignored directives to return the vehicles.

The situation has heightened political tensions in Kano following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
