Kwara APC Crisis Deepens Over Governorship Primary Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara is facing a deepening crisis as chieftain Abdulmaje Abdullahi publicly criticized the primary election that produced Yakubu Danladi as the governorship candidate. Abdullahi, who leads the Legaci 2027 group, expressed concerns regarding the primary election process during a television program, highlighting dissatisfaction among party members about the conduct of the primaries.

He noted that the situation within the party's ranks raises questions about the democratic principles and character of the APC in Kwara. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had previously endorsed Abdulfatai Yahaya as his preferred successor, based on Yahaya's contributions to the party and state.

Despite several aspirants stepping down for a consensus arrangement, the APC opted for a primary election scheduled for May 21. Following the election, which was suspended and later resumed, the primary committee led by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro announced Danladi as the winner.

Abdullahi urged party leadership to respect members' wishes and uphold the integrity of the APC's internal democratic processes.
