Kwara Governor Mourns Slain Guards, Announces Security Measures

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq expressed deep sorrow following the killing of five forest guards during a bandit attack in Nuku, Kaiama Local Government Area, which occurred around midnight. The guards were ambushed at a security outpost, and the assailants reportedly arrived on motorcycles, setting vehicles ablaze during the assault.

Governor Abdulrazaq described the slain guards as brave patriots who paid the ultimate price in defense of their community. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and assured them of the state government's support.

The governor highlighted the persistent threat posed by bandits in rural communities across the state and announced the establishment of a Kwara State Security Strategy Committee, chaired by retired Major General G. Wahab, to strengthen the state's security response.

This committee includes other retired military officials and is expected to convene for its inaugural session to deliberate on strategies to combat insecurity in the state.
