Kwara Governor Orders Arrests Over APC Congress Dispute

In Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has directed security agencies to arrest members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following protests over alleged manipulation of local government congress results. Approximately 50 party members threatened arrest after discovering inconsistencies in the results announced at the congress venue.

Protests escalated as members accused party leaders of altering the results submitted to the national headquarters in Abuja. The unrest particularly affected the Asa Local Government Area, where allegations of tampering involved eight wards.

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed officers across the state, resulting in at least five arrests, including APC ward chairman Ogbondoroko Reke. The situation has caused fear among party officials, prompting some leaders to go into hiding.

Additionally, Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Amasa, chairman of the Asa Local Government Area, announced the removal of five council executives, citing disrepute brought to the council. The crisis reflects ongoing internal disputes within the APC in Kwara State.
