Kwara Government Enforces Signage Rules Amid PDP Claims

The Kwara State government, under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is currently enforcing signage regulations, which has led to the removal of campaign billboards, including those belonging to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at strategic locations in Ilorin, such as Agaka and Adabata Junction. The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA), led by General Manager Toba Adeyeye, stated that the removals are part of their mandate to regulate signage and protect public infrastructure, not targeted at any political party.

Adeyeye emphasized that complaints about illegal billboards prompted the enforcement actions, including the removal of a billboard that obstructed a newly constructed road. He noted that individuals or organizations must obtain approval before using government infrastructure for advertising.

KWASAA has previously removed illegal campaign materials from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as well, asserting their non-partisan stance. The agency has also conducted sensitization programs to educate political actors on campaign regulations.
