Kwara State Administration Improves Public Service Welfare

The AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration in Kwara State has made significant strides in improving public service and welfare for workers. The Kwara State Water Corporation, once plagued by protests and neglect, now receives consistent subventions and focuses on service delivery.

The administration has committed over ₦5.5 billion between 2020 and 2024 to clear inherited salary arrears for local government workers, SUBEB teachers, and pensioners. Regular salary payments have become the norm, and promotion exercises have been made more predictable, with over 2,000 state civil servants receiving promotion letters in 2025.

Additionally, health workers have benefited from the implementation of revised CONMESS and CONHESS salary structures, aligning their remuneration with federal standards, including a 100 percent CONHESS for local government health workers effective January 2024. The government continues to offset inherited gratuity and pension liabilities, enhancing the welfare of pensioners.
