NDC in Kwara State Names Awolowo as Running Mate for 2027
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kwara State has taken steps to resolve its internal leadership dispute in preparation for the 2027 governorship election. On Monday, the party handed over its state secretariat in Ilorin to the AbdulGaniyu AbdulSalam-led executive and introduced Elder Israel Ajayi Awolowo as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Prof. Abdulmumin Olayinka Ajia.
Ajia described Awolowo, a retired Deputy Director in the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, as an experienced educationist who will contribute significantly to their administration. He emphasized that Awolowo would have clearly defined responsibilities and be an active partner in implementing the Forward Kwara Agenda.
Ajia also urged party members to unite behind the AbdulSalam-led executive and work collaboratively to strengthen the party's organization. Awolowo expressed his commitment to listening and working with others, while AbdulSalam assured fair service to members and support for candidates.
