Kwara Pensioners Thank Governor for Gratuity Payments

Pensioners in Kwara State, represented by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), have commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the recent release of funds aimed at paying gratuities to the 2019 batch of state government retirees, as well as the 2014 and 2015 batches of local government pensioners. In a statement signed by NUP chairman Alhaji Saidu Oladimeji and secretary Chief Abraham Jona Gana JP, the union praised the governor for his compassion towards pensioners' welfare.

They noted that this financial support would alleviate some of the beneficiaries' financial burdens. However, the pensioners called on the governor to allocate more funds to ensure ongoing payments for the remaining pensioners, specifically those from 2020 to date for state pensioners and from 2015 to date for local government pensioners.

They also requested the implementation of pension harmonization and increases, a peculiar allowance for pensioners, and the relocation of the NUP secretariat. The union expressed gratitude while urging patience among its members as they continue to pursue these issues.
