15-Year-Old Arrested for Aunt's Murder in Kwara

On January 14, 2026, the Kwara State Police Command arrested a 15-year-old boy named Boi Gobri Yusuf for allegedly killing his aunt, identified as Akanbi. The arrest followed a distress report received by the police regarding the discovery of a woman in a pool of blood.

Police operations commenced immediately, leading to a discreet investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect had concealed himself behind a door and attacked the victim while she was bathing.

Several household items believed to have been used during the attack, including a frying pan, weighing scale, kitchen turn stick, and kitchen knife, were recovered as evidence. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that his actions were driven by resentment towards the deceased, who he had previously attempted to poison unsuccessfully.

After committing the offense, the suspect changed his clothes and left the residence under the pretext of running an errand before later contacting the deceased's husband, who subsequently discovered her lifeless body. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
