Teenager Allegedly Kills Guardian After Poisoning Attempts

In Ilorin, Kwara State, a teenager is accused of killing his guardian following two unsuccessful attempts to poison her using insecticide known as "sniper" in soup and watermelon. The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, described the case as tragic and disturbing.

The suspect initially claimed others were involved but later confessed to acting alone. The incident occurred on January 14, around 8:30 p.m., when the teenager was sent on an errand.

Upon returning, he allegedly attacked the woman with household items, including a frying pan and a kitchen knife, while hiding behind a door. The victim's husband discovered her lying in a pool of blood upon returning home.

The suspect admitted during interrogation that he acted out of resentment due to the victim's frequent scolding of his behavior. He remains in custody and will be charged once the investigation concludes.
