Man Arrested for Exhuming and Selling Relative's Skull

The Kwara Police arrested a man named Hamza Woru for exhuming and attempting to sell a relative's skull in the Kaiama Local Government Area. The arrest occurred after a complaint was received by the Kaiama divisional intelligence unit, indicating that the suspect was trying to traffic human remains.

The suspect allegedly contacted the complainant via phone to arrange a meeting at a specified location. Upon arrival, the complainant alerted the police, leading to a swift operation that resulted in Woru's arrest.

His accomplice fled the scene. The police recovered the human skull as an exhibit.

Further investigations revealed that Woru had traveled to Shirigweria to exhume the remains of a female relative, who had been buried in January 2026. Kwara Police spokesperson Adekimi Ojo confirmed the developments and noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.

The suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation, and the command urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
