Ogun Police Arrest Suspected Ritualist with Human Parts

On April 17, 2026, Idowu Ashafa, a 43-year-old suspected ritualist, was apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command during a routine patrol led by Division Police Officer Solotan Owolabi. The police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that Ashafa was found in possession of a fresh human head and two human palms concealed in a nylon bag.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Ashafa allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave in Ido Itakun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes. The police have recovered the items from the scene and have documented the case, which has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The command has assured the public of its commitment to eradicating criminal elements in the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
