Kwara Residents Accuse Army of Abandoning Terror Pursuit

Residents of Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area have accused Nigerian Army personnel of abandoning the pursuit of Boko Haram suspects following a deadly terrorist attack that reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 162 villagers. The residents claim that instead of pursuing the attackers in the nearby forest, soldiers have been setting up roadblocks within the community, allegedly harassing and extorting motorists.

This has heightened anger among survivors who expect decisive military operations to track down the perpetrators. Villagers, including local leaders like Baburasa Ibrahim Hammad, have expressed their frustration over the lack of protection and security presence in the area.

They described widespread anxiety and the need to avoid traveling long distances, especially at night. Some community members have resorted to forming local vigilante groups to defend themselves with rudimentary weapons, warning of the risk of further tragedies if urgent action is not taken by authorities.
