KWARTMA Dismisses Personnel for Motorists' Extortion

The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) has taken disciplinary action against its personnel following allegations of extortion during a monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Ilorin. One personnel was dismissed, and two others were demoted after an investigation into a viral video that showed them engaging in unethical conduct at the Geri Alimi Roundabout on June 27, 2026.

The Chief Executive Officer of KWARTMA, Abdullahi Oba, stated that the actions captured in the video did not align with the authority's values and operational standards. Following the investigation, the personnel were found culpable and sanctioned, with the sanctions effective from July 9, 2026.

Oba emphasized the seriousness of the authority's stance against corruption and misconduct, asserting that such disciplinary measures would deter future violations and uphold public confidence. KWARTMA reiterated its commitment to professionalism and accountability among its personnel.
