KWARTMA Dismisses Personnel Over Extortion Allegations

The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) took disciplinary action against its personnel following allegations of extortion during a monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Ilorin. On Monday, a statement from Olawuyi Olalekan, the Head of Media and Public Relations of KWARTMA, announced the dismissal of one personnel and the demotion of two others after an investigation was prompted by a viral video showing unethical conduct at the Geri Alimi Roundabout on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

KWARTMA's Chief Executive Officer, Abdullahi Oba, emphasized that the actions of the personnel did not align with the authority's values and operational standards. The three personnel were subjected to interrogation and disciplinary proceedings, leading to sanctions effective from July 9, 2026.

Oba described the dismissal as a landmark action against corruption and reiterated KWARTMA's commitment to professionalism and integrity, warning that any personnel found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures.
