Kwara Youths Protest Politicization of Offa Robbery Case

On Thursday, a thousand youths from four local government areas in Ilorin, Kwara State, staged a protest against the alleged politicization of the Offa bank robbery case, defending former Senate President Bukola Saraki. The protesters marched through major streets, converging at the Emir's palace, where spokesperson Abdulkadir Issa expressed concerns over the growing trend of political propaganda in the state.

They warned that attempts to reopen the case could undermine peace and unity in the region. Issa emphasized that the case had already undergone legal scrutiny, with no evidence linking Saraki to the crime, which resulted in the death of 30 individuals, including police officers, during the robbery on April 5, 2018.

The youths called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to exercise restraint and prioritize the safety of citizens, urging that the matter be handled transparently within the legal framework. They expressed their commitment to due process and warned against dragging traditional institutions into political controversies.
