Saraki Denies Involvement in 2018 Offa Robbery Charges

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has denied any involvement in the 2018 Offa bank robbery, which resulted in the deaths of at least 32 people, including police officers. Saraki described the fresh criminal charges filed against him as politically motivated and an abuse of judicial process.

He emphasized that previous investigations by federal authorities had exonerated him, and he dismissed the allegations as attempts to damage his image and a design for political blackmail ahead of the 2019 elections. The charges, linked to the robbery case marked KW/114C/26, involve former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and others, with an expected arraignment before Justice Haleemah Salman at the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on June 4.

Saraki criticized the Kwara State government's handling of security, citing a rise in banditry and kidnapping, and expressed confidence in the judicial process regarding the Offa robbery case.
