Labour Minister Urges NUPENG Leader to Continue Legacy

During the 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) held in Lagos, Labour Minister Maigari Dangyadi encouraged the newly elected president, Akanni Olad, to advance the legacy of his predecessor, William Akporeha. Dangyadi highlighted the need for Olad to maintain harmony within the industry and to focus on improving the welfare of union members through constructive dialogue with the federal government.

He commended Akporeha's achievements, which included better remuneration and benefits for union members, and emphasized the importance of continuing to build on these foundations. Olad expressed his commitment to uphold the dignity of labor and to work tirelessly to strengthen the union, ensuring that the welfare of members remains a top priority.

He also announced plans to form a truth reconciliation committee to work closely with past leaders to promote industrial harmony and better welfare packages for union staff.
