Two Killed in Lagos Container Truck Collision

A tragic accident occurred at midnight on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos, resulting in the deaths of two individuals due to a collision between two heavily laden 40-foot container trucks. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), confirmed by Director of Public Affairs Taofiq Adebayo, reported that the crash happened along the Cele inward corridor.

The driver of one truck, identified by registration number T 392 LA, was trapped inside the vehicle due to the violent impact, necessitating a painstaking extraction by LASTMA's Rescue Recovery Team (RRT). The lifeless body of a second victim was later discovered beneath one of the trucks during an intensive search operation, which was conducted in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

Adebayo noted that the accident scene was secured by the Nigeria Police Force, Ilasa Division, to preserve critical evidence. LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakar Oki expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and emphasized the importance of safety compliance for freight operations, particularly during nighttime.
