Tinubu Square Fountain Park Refurbished After 19 Years

The Tinubu Square Fountain Park on Lagos Island has been refurbished after 19 years of neglect, with the redevelopment managed by Corner47 Group Limited. CEO Gbolahan Ogundimu Odusanya announced the project during a press briefing, stating it aims to restore the monument's dignity and align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision for a “smart, safe and historic Lagos.” The park, last refurbished in 2007 under former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had suffered from neglect and surrounding dumping.

The rehabilitation followed a directive from Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Dr Tokunbo Wahab, leading to a partnership with the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK). The project includes improved lighting, CCTV cameras, renovated walkways, seating, and 24-hour security.

The approximately 2,000-square-metre facility will also feature historical displays to educate residents about Lagos's history and culture.
