Diocese of Lagos Mainland Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The Diocese of Lagos Mainland, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, marked its 20th anniversary on Friday with a public presentation of a new book titled "The Church Is Marching On" at the MUSON Centre in Lagos. The event was hosted by the Rt Revd Akinpelu Johnson, Bishop of Lagos Mainland Diocese, and attended by notable figures including Justice Ayokunle, Pa Kayode Shonaike, Justice Olayinka Faji, Chief J.P.

Oke, and Mrs Abosede Faji. The Diocese of Lagos West was represented by Dr Mrs Lydia Odedeji, while the Rt Revd Dr Ebenezer Adewole and former Bishop of Lagos Mainland Diocese, the Most Revd Dr Adebayo Dada Akinde, were also present.

Dr Reuben Abati, a veteran journalist, reviewed the book, emphasizing its significance in documenting the Anglican Church's history, structure, and development. He highlighted the book's focus on the church's organizational structure, the contributions of women, youth, and the role of Sunday school.

Abati noted that the book addresses the future of the diocese and the church, marking an important step in documenting the history of the Diocese of Lagos Mainland and the Anglican Communion.
