Lagos APC Aspirants Defend Speaker Obasa Amid Protest Claims

Aspirants of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have publicly denounced what they termed a "mischievous" attempt to associate Speaker Rt Hon Dr Mudashiru Obasa with a peaceful protest that occurred last week. In a strong statement released on Wednesday, the aspirants emphasized that the demonstration was a spontaneous expression of dissatisfaction among party members and not a sponsored event.

The statement was signed by prominent party figures including Hon Sey Oladejo, Hon Kolawole Taiwo, Hon Noheem Adam, Hon Stephen Ogundipe, Hon Apata Samuel, Hon David Doherty, Hon Ganiyu Egunjobi, and Hon Ganiyu Ayuba. The group accused unnamed individuals of attempting to scapegoat Speaker Obasa to trivialize the complaints raised during the protest.

They called for unity within the APC and urged party leaders to address the outstanding issues raised by the aspirants to strengthen the party's internal democratic processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
