Lagos APC Defends Candidates' List Amid Protests

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed the validity of its published candidates' list for the 2027 House of Assembly elections, despite growing protests from aggrieved stakeholders alleging manipulation. Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi stated that the list, which was unveiled on May 25, includes notable candidates such as Jame Abiodun Faleke and Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

The list features 24 candidates for the House of Representatives, including Olabisi Adebanjo, who is the only woman among them. Ojelabi acknowledged the concerns raised by the Justice Forum bloc within the party and allowed aggrieved aspirants to submit petitions to an appeal committee.

However, he emphasized that the final authority on the primary outcomes rests with the national leadership of the APC. Despite the objections, Ojelabi dismissed suggestions that the state leadership favored any particular group and urged party members to utilize internal mechanisms to resolve disputes.

The situation has led to threats of mass protests from stakeholders, particularly in the Alimosho federal constituency, if their grievances are not addressed.
