Lagos Assembly Confirms Three Local Government Nominees
The Lagos House of Assembly confirmed three out of five nominees forwarded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the Local Government Service Commission. The confirmed nominees are Hakeem Bamgbola, the former Chairman of Itire/Ikate LCDA; Olaleye Samsudeen, the former Chairman of Isolo LCDA; and Arabirin Olabanji Folashade, the immediate past Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government.
The two nominees whose confirmations were stepped down are Durosimi Yinka and Seriki Ahmed. During the plenary session on Thursday, Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola, the chairman of the 12-member Ad Hoc Committee on Screening of Nominees, presented the committee's report.
He stated that all nominees were assessed based on their credentials, experience, performance, character, and responses to questions. The committee recommended confirming three nominees while advising further scrutiny for Yinka and Ahmed.
Following the report, Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa conducted a voice vote, and the recommendations were adopted by the lawmakers.
