Lagos Court Discharges Pretti Mike Club Supervisor of Drug Charges

On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Lagos discharged Mike Nwalie, known as the club supervisor of Pretti Mike nightclub, from drug-related charges. The ruling was made by Justice Ambrose Lewis Allagoa, who upheld a no-case submission from Nwalie's defense.

The prosecution, led by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), had failed to establish a prima facie case against Nwalie, who was previously arraigned on three counts related to conspiracy and unlawful possession of hard drugs. The NDLEA alleged that during a raid on the nightclub on October 26, 169 cylinders of nitrous oxide and 200 grams of cannabis sativa were recovered.

The defense counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, argued that the prosecution did not provide credible evidence linking Nwalie to the alleged offenses, stating that the evidence presented was inconsistent and insufficient. The judge agreed, stating that the prosecution's case fell short of the minimum legal threshold, leading to Nwalie's discharge.
