Police Ensure Safety After IED Incident in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command assured residents of Mushin's safety after an improvised explosive device (IED) scare on Monday, which resulted in one person being injured. Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani visited the scene following a distress call about an explosion that occurred early in the morning.

Preliminary findings indicated that the explosion was caused by a device placed beneath the passenger side of a vehicle, which detonated when the engine was started. The injured individual was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) units were deployed to the scene to conduct a thorough assessment and search, ultimately declaring the area safe. Tijani urged the public, particularly traders in the commercial area, to remain calm and resume normal activities while disregarding rumors of widespread insecurity.

The police are continuing their investigation and have recovered remnants of the explosive device for forensic examination.
